Overview
The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting a range of technology-based systems in addition to facility management. This is a demanding role that requires excellent time management skills and an ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the ongoing support of the following technology:
Network Systems:
- Routers, Firewalls, Hubs, Microsoft Windows 2000/2003,Microsoft Exchange 2003, Fax system and Printers
- Application Systems:
- Windows 2000/XP, Microsoft Office 2000/2003, Microsoft Visio 2000/2003, Microsoft Project 2000/2003
Voice Systems:
- Nortel Business Communications Manager, hardware and software
- Facility Management:
- Office space planning, cabling systems, and power systems
- Other technology that the Corporation selects as it moves forward
- Application administration - licensing; back-up of all business applications; inventory applications and license numbers
- Network hardware inventory - workstations; notebooks; peripherals; spare parts
- Documentation - technical knowledge base; network diagrams; company map
- Provide technical support to end-users on an ongoing basis
- Perform conduct machine diagnostics semi-annually
Enterprise Support:
- Development and documentation of standards relating to networks, desktop software products, access rights and technology deployment. This includes document retention. This documentation set also includes any training materials required for the successful deployment of standard procedures and products in other Hygeia locations.
- Maintenance of the Enterprise technical asset register that contains a record of all of our technical devices.
- Support similar to that provided in Toronto when a new Hygeia location opens or expands. This support will normally take place through local administration personnel but the need for travel will arise from time to time.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Completed MCSE certification, preferred options MS Exchange 2003
- 2+ years of relevant work experience with network connectivity, email systems, MS Office 2000/2003, Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003 workstations & servers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Willingness to travel
- Flexibility to work "non-traditional" office hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Technology purchasing and project management experience an asset
- Teaching or training experience is recommended
- Experience using Nortel Business Communications Manager (phone system)
- Bilingualism an asset
- Insurance or Health Administration experience beneficial
